Abstract

|
3-Ethyl-5-(4-hydroxy-3-methoxyphenyl)pentanoic acid phenediyl amide (8) was designed and synthesized as a capsaicin analog. 3-(4-Hydroxy-3-methoxyphenyl) propenal was successively converted to the target am-ide 8 via 8-steps sequence including Wadswortb- Homer- Emmonson olefination and Me3AI-catalyzed direct amide fon-nation.
